The Equinox

The Equinox is an 12-story, 115-unit student housing building on West Gorham Street in Madison. The building is composed of 9 stories of masonry architecture that steps back at the tenth floor to a lighter glass and metal expression. At an informational presentation, the Urban Design Commission determined that the building was the best example yet of student housing towers that have been constructed in the area. The street side setback has been devoted to a thoughtfully-designed semi-public space. A large terrace with raised planters at the perimeter provides a public space at the front of the building, while a south-facing terrace in the back yard provides a sun terrace for semi-public social gatherings.
